False Alarm... And so much more!

Ciao tutti! (Hello everyone) Whewwwww... What a fun past couple of days it's been for Brit and I. (If anyone believes we've been having fun, I have some ocean front property in northern Montana that I'm trying to liquidate.) Actually it hasn't been too terribly fun at all.

Brit started to notice some pain in the lower right side of her abdomen on Thursday. It kind of felt like a muscle spasm which gradually worsened until Sunday night it became so unbearable that she couldn't get comfortable no matter how hard she tried. So after much coaxing we convinced her that she might need to see the doctor. Since it was about 9 pm on a Sunday night we ended up in the ER at EIRMC and were immediately escorted to Labor and Delivery because pregnant women scare them in the ER. Well, Brit had her blood drawn and some other tests to try and determine the cause of the pain and discomfort and after some pretty clean test results the nurses and the doctor on call ruled out her appendix (which is why we brought her to the hospital in the 1st place). After a couple of hours we were released with the doctor wanting to see her the following morning at his office.

Monday morning rolled around and we met with the doctor who ran the same test as the night before as well as an ultrasound ("Booger" is definitely a little girl) to try and figure out the discomfort. Brit had barely slept the night before and it seemed as if the pain was intensifying. The blood work showed an increase in her white blood cell count so the doctor decided to get the opinion of the general surgeon next door. After a few minutes with the surgeon he decided that it would be best if Brit had her appendix out. So he scheduled her an appointment for the afternoon and we went home to gather a few things for a day at the hospital.

Upon arriving at the hospital Brit was promptly admitted and prepped for an open appendectomy. 30 minutes later Brit was moved to the O.R. and I went and waited in the waiting room. The surgery went smooth and quickly and 45 minutes later we learned that it wasn't Brit's appendix that was causing the hurt but that she had some body fat that had twisted itself together thus cutting of the blood flow and causing some pretty excruciating pain. The appendix was fine but they took it anyway just to be safe and glued her back together.

We then spent the next 6 hours in the Labor and Delivery section of the hospital making sure that the baby was okay and that Brit wasn't going to start any pre-term labor. I actually quite enjoy the sound of the baby's heart over the baby monitor and it would have lulled me to sleep had Brittany not enclosed my hand in a death grip that only worsened as wave after wave of contractions hit. But Brit was a trooper and I'm sure the feeling in my hand will return in time for her to have the baby for real. The contractions lasted almost the entire 6 + hours that we were there and finally dissipated by the time they felt she was ready to go home. We were actually afraid that we might just have another "firecracker" baby in the family

Brit is a little tender still but mom and baby are both fine. What a way to spend the 4th of July holiday. I really don't recommend it to anyone. Brit has decided the "Booger" deserves a pretty good spanking when she comes out for all of the pain she caused her mom today.

Well, that is it for now. We will keep you posted on any changes.

We love you all and happy 4th,

Sean, Brittany, and "Booger"

P.S. We have decided to give our little "Booger" a real name: Savanna Kay Wilson.

Wow! Thanks for the update, Sean, and glad you and Savannah are okay, Brittany. Scares like that are no fun. Savannah is a cute name and we want to meet her in person, BUT NOT YET! LOVE ALL THREE OF YOU!
