Hi! Grandpa, Connie, and I had another adventure yesterday. Caught an early morning Metro train for Washington DC; arrived just in time (due to the cancellation of the first Metro train we'd planned to take) to get aboard an Amtrack train bound for New York City and Penn Station. A taxi ride past Ground Zero, then a ferry to Liberty and Ellis Islands were a big part of the adventure. It was an exciting day. We have a greater appreciation for this country and our ancestors who were brave enough to come here back then. Trains coming into the Station were all late so our return trip was delayed. Another delay was when our train was stopped due to extreme storm conditions ahead--rain, lightning, thunder, tornado watch. Grandpa and I didn't know that the last Metro train to Maryland left DC about midnight so we weren't too concerned about the stop. BUT, grateful when we resumed our journey and made it just IN TIME to catch that train, and arrived here safe and sound after an eventful, exciting, long day!
Connie is a brave, knowledgeable, capable and fearless tour leader! Is everyone else home now?
